EAST BEAT journeys into the music of East & South-East Asia and the diasporas.

THREAD (ខ្សែស្រឡាយ) is an evolving project that uses sound to explore questions of diaspora identity, family, and connection, with a particular focus on Cambodia. Several iterations of this sonic piece exist, each merely a stage on an unfolding and perpetually unfinished journey. A deeply personal work composed of auditory fragments, it is both expression and anchor point for connection and conversation. One version will be exhibited at Holocaust Centre North in April 2025 to mark the 50th anniversary of the fall of Phnom Penh to the Khmer Rouge, and the start of the Cambodian genocide.

I am involved with the ESEA ARTISTS’ FUTURES project, which is a collective imagining of new landscapes for East & South-East Asian artists in the UK and beyond.
